Germany or Turkey will host the European Championship 2024

The Euro 2024 will be organized by Germany or Turkey. These are the only two interested countries that have registered with UEFA before the deadline of Friday 3 March 2017.

On December 9, 2016, UEFA sent an official invitation to all member countries. In the meantime, Germany and Turkey have indicated that they want to organize the European Championship 2024.

Initially, some Scandinavian countries also wanted to bid for the organization of the European Football Championship in 2024, but Sweden and Norway dropped out a week before the deadline. 

Germany has on January 20, 2017 indicated its intention to organize the European football tournament in the year 2024. In 2006, Germany was already the host country for the European Football Championship, as well as in the year 1988 when the Netherlands won the tournament.

Turkey has on February 15, 2017 express their interest made to UEFA. Turkey was already interested in the organization of matches of the European Championship 2020 in the past, but decided against it in 2014. The European Championship 2020 will be played in different countries. The 2020 Olympic Games and the 2016 European Championship were also not awarded to Turkey.

On March 10, 2017, it will become clear which countries have actually reported to the European Football Association, but only Germany and Turkey have publicly indicated this. In September 2018, it will be announced who will organize the European Championship 2024. Germany is the big favourite.
